Hair Growth Tips for Brides

If you, like many other brides would like a little bit more length for your wedding hairstyle, here are a few tips to help promote hair growth.

Regular hair cuts: Get a trim every 3 months. Your hair is a helix, like a rope. And just like a rope, it starts to unwind with wear and tear. If you ‘nip it in the bud’ and do a micro-trim before it starts to unravel, you are left with more length in the long run. I like to do my micro-trims on dry, straightened hair, so I can see exactly how much needs to come off.

Supplements: Many supplements claim to help your hair grow but in my experience biotin, folic acid and iron are going to be your MVPs, hello prenatal vitamin!

Products: It’s important to add a shampoo and conditioner specifically designed to help hair growth and density. These will help create a good environment for hair growth and also help keep those little follicles (the cells that actually construct your hair) healthy. My favourite is Serioxyl from L’Oreal Professionel.

Daily scalp stimulation: Brush, massage or exfoliate your scalp everyday! This helps keep the blood flowing to your follicles and the skin on your scalp healthy. Blood is what brings nutrients and oxygen to your cells, which feeds them and gives them what they need to make strong, healthy hair.

Hair Oil: Keep your ends soft and moisturized by using a leave in conditioner or a hair oil. This will help smooth and strengthen hair, which prevents tangles and breakage. Less breakage off the ends = longer hair. My favourite is L’Oreal Professionel Mythic Oil, I use it on almost every head that sits in my chair and it is never heavy!
